Def:- Verb is a doing work/ word.

An action is called verb.

What is going on in a sentence is called verb.

Note:- Verb शब्द का जन्म  “verbum” शब्द से हुआ है।ये एक latin word है।

There are two types of verb.

  • Main verb

2.Marginal helping verb:- When “To” is used with “is/am/are/had/have/has”It is called marginal helping verb.

3.Compound helping verb:-When two helping verb comes together in a sentence it is called compound helping verb.

4.Modals:-Modals are the part of helping verb but they show ability,capability

possibility, permission in a sentence.

There are 13 modals in english.

=Can/could/shall/should/will/would/may/might/must/ought to/need to/dare to/used to.

There are two types of modals .

1.Semi modals:-Need to,Dare to/used to/काे semi modals कहते है। क्याेकि इन्हें modal family में बाद में जाेड़ा गया।

2.Pure modals:- The rest ten modals are called pure modals ,can/could/will/shall/would/should/may/might/ought to/must.

.Transitive verb:- when there is an object after verb it is called transitive verb.

Ex:-He eats bread.

2.Intransitive verb:-When there is no object after verb it is called intransitive verb.

Ex:-He goes.

 

 

  • There are 4 types of intransitive verb.

 

1.Mono transitive verb:- When these is only one object after verb it is called mono transitive verb.

Ex:-He eats bread.

2.Di-transitive verb:- When there are two object after verb it is called Di-transitive verb.

3.Tri-transitive verb:- When there are three object after verb.

Ex:-He eats bread, vegetable, rice.

 

4.Poli-transiive verb:- When there are more than three object after verb.

Ex:-He eats bread,vege,rice,&puls

There are four types of intransitive verb.

1.Finite verb:- Verb which change its form according to the subject.

Ex:- I eat bread.

He eats bread.

2.Non-Finite:- When verb does not change It’s form according to the subject.

Ex:-I am coming here to eat.

He has come here to eat.

3.Gerund:-When “v4” is used as a subject or object

It is called gerund.

Ex:-Walking is a good exercise.

I am walking.

He likes swimming.

4.Infinitive verb:- When ‘to+v1’ is used as a subject or object it is called infinitive verb.

Ex:-To dance is a tough work.

He is come here to dance .
