   Adverb (क्रिया विषेशण)

 

Def:- Adverb are the words or clauses (group of words) that show the quality of verb/ adjective/ another adverb or provide some additional information about them.

 

:-क्रिया विशेषण वाे शब्द या शब्दो का समुह (उपवाकय) हाेते है। जाे क्रिया की या फिर विशेषण की या फिर किसी दूसरे क्रिया विशेषण की विशेषता बताते है। या फिर उनके बारे में कुछ अतिरिक्त सूचना देते है।

 

Ex:- राम तेज दाैड़ता है।  Ram runs fast.

Verb :- Run.     Adverb:- Fast

 

Ex:-राम हल्के दाैड़ता है।

       Ram runs slow /slowly.

 

Verb:-Run

 Adverb:-slow

Ex:- वाे बहुत अच्छा लड़का है।

He is a very good boy.

 

Noun – Boy

Adjective – Good

Adverb – Very

Ex:-राम तेज दाैड़ता है, जो अच्छी बात है।

Ram runs fast ,that is good.

 

Verb:- “Run”

Adverb:- “Fast”

Adverb clause:- “That is good”

 

Types of Adverb:-

:-There are ten types of adverb.

 

  • Adverb of manner

 

 

 

  • Adverb of place

 

 

 

  • Adverb of time

 

 

 

  • Adverb of degree or quantity.

 

 

 

  • Adverb of reason

 

 

 

  • Adverb of frequency or Number

 

 

 

  • Adverb of affirmative or negative

 

 

 

  • Adverb of conjunction

 

 

 

  • Interrogative adverb

  • 1.Adverb of manner:- This type of adverb tells us in what manner  the action takes place and answer the question “how” or ‘in what manner’. 

    Note:- Slowly, badly,clearly, well, fast.

    Ex:-He walks slowly.

    He speaks clearly.

    2.Adverb of place:- This type adverb tells us the place of an action &answer the question ‘where’

    Note:-There, here, in,out,above, far,behind etc.

    Ex:-Come in.

    He comes here.

    3.Adverb of time:– This type of adverb tells us time of an action and answers the question ‘ ‘when’.

    Note:-Now,before, today, yesterday, since, already etc.

    Ex:-He come late.

    Call him early.

    4.Adverb of frequency or number:- This type of adverb tells us how frequency an action takes place and answers the question ‘how often’.

    Note:-Once, twice, thrice, often, seldom, always, sometimes etc.

    Ex:-I read this book twice.

    I have told you once.

    5.Adverb of degree or quantity:- This type of adverb expresses degree of quality state conditions & relation and answers the question “how much “

    in what degree or “to what extent”.

    Note:-Very,little, quite, enough too,much,almost,so etc.

    Ex:-He is too lazy.

    He is very clever.

    6.Adverb of reason:- This type of adverb tells us the reason or purpose of the action & answers the question ” Why”.

    Note:- Therefore, hence etc

    Ex:-He therefore left school.

    He is hence unable to go.

    7.Adverb of affirmation & negation:- Adverb of affirmation is an adverb which confirms the action & adverb of negation is an adverb which denise the action in the sentence.

    :-Adverb of affirmation- yes,surely, certainly, undoubtedly, definitely, absolutely etc.

    Adverb of negation:- No,not,never.

    Ex:- yes he went there.

    He will never go there

    8.Adverb of conjunction:-

    Adverb of conjunction are used to connect two clauses, phrases, words.it is connects two clauses,phrases or words separated by a semicolon(;) but not by a comma (,).

    Note:- Also,likewise, otherwise, indeed, therefore, still, thus etc

    Ex:-It was raining; therefore, I changed my plans.

    -Get up early in the morning;otherwise, You will be late for the school.

    9.Interrogative adverb:- Interrogative adverb are used to ask questions.

    Note:-When, where, why,how,how many,how much.

    Ex:- When will you go to your office?

    (Interrogative adverb of time)

    Where do you live?

    (Interrogative adverb of place)

    Why are you behaving like this?

    (Interrogative adverb of reason)

    How did you do this?

    (Interrogative adverb of manner)

    How many coins do you have?

    (Interrogative of number)

    10.Relative adverb:-

    Relative adverbs are used to join sentence or clauses. These adverbs are when (time), where (place) & why(reason).

    Ex:- I know the time when he will come.

    I know the place where he was born.
