         VERB (क्रिया)

Def:- Verb is a doing work/ word.

An action is called verb.

What is going on in a sentence is called verb.

Note:- Verb शब्द का जन्म  “verbum” शब्द से हुआ है।ये एक latin word है।

There are two types of verb.

 

  • Helping verb
  • Main verb
  • Four types of Helping verb

1.Primary helping verb

2.Marginal helping verb

3.Compound helping verb

4.Modals

There are two types of modals.

1.Semi modals

2.Pure modals

There are two types of main verb.

1.Transitive verb

2.Intransitive verb

There are 4 types of transitive verb.

 

1.Mono transitive verb

2.Di- transitive verb

3. Tri- transitive verb

4. Poli-transitive verb

2.Present participle

There are four types of helping verb.

 

1.Primary helping verb:-All the helping verb are called primary helping verb.

There are 24 primary helping verb.

=Do/does/is/am/are/has/have/did/was/were/had/shall/will/should/would/can/may/might/must/need to/dare to/used to/ought to.

2.Marginal helping verb:- When “To” is used with “is/am/are/had/have/has”It is called marginal helping verb.

3.Compound helping verb:-When two helping verb comes together in a sentence it is called compound helping verb.

=Has/have+to ,Had+to

Is/am/are+to

Was/were+to

4.Modals:-Modals are the part of helping verb but they show ability,capability

possibility, permission in a sentence.

There are 13 modals in english.

=Can/could/shall/should/will/would/may/might/must/ought to/need to/dare to/used to.

There are two types of modals .

1.Semi modals:-Need to,Dare to/used to/काे semi modals कहते है। क्याेकि इन्हें modal family में बाद में जाेड़ा गया।

2.Pure modals:- The rest ten modals are called pure modals ,can/could/will/shall/would/should/may/might/ought to/must.

 

 

  • There are two types of main verb.

 

.Transitive verb:- when there is an object after verb it is called transitive verb.

Ex:-He eats bread.

2.Intransitive verb:-When there is no object after verb it is called intransitive verb.

Ex:-He goes.

 

 

  • There are 4 types of intransitive verb.

 

1.Mono transitive verb:- When these is only one object after verb it is called mono transitive verb.

Ex:-He eats bread.

2.Di-transitive verb:- When there are two object after verb it is called Di-transitive verb.

3.Tri-transitive verb:- When there are three object after verb.

Ex:-He eats bread, vegetable, rice.

 

4.Poli-transiive verb:- When there are more than three object after verb.

Ex:-He eats bread,vege,rice,&puls

There are four types of intransitive verb.

1.Finite verb:- Verb which change its form according to the subject.

Ex:- I eat bread.

He eats bread.

2.Non-Finite:- When verb does not change It’s form according to the subject.

Ex:-I am coming here to eat.

He has come here to eat.

3.Gerund:-When “v4” is used as a subject or object

It is called gerund.

Ex:-Walking is a good exercise.

I am walking.

He likes swimming.

4.Infinitive verb:- When ‘to+v1’ is used as a subject or object it is called infinitive verb.

Ex:-To dance is a tough work.

He is come here to dance .

There are two types of infinitive verb.

1.Bare infinitive:- When verb comes without ‘To’It is called bare infinitive.

Ex:-I have come here.

2.With to infinitive:- When verb comes with “To” it is called with to infinitive.

Ex:- He has gone there “to meet” you.

There are two types of Gerund.

 

1.Past participle:- When “v3/ v2 +noun” is used it called past participle.

Ex:-टुटी हुई कुर्सी ।

A brocken chair.

Ex:- Left food.

2.Present participle:- When v4+noun”comes acting as an adjective it is called present participle.

Ex:-Interesting story .

Ex:- Talking Tom.
